blindsight

Blindsight

What types of cultural diversity are present in the movie?

Types of cultural diversity in the movie are German, Tibetan and American and there are two different religions like Buddhist and Christian. The German women had come to Tibet to open Blindsight School and the American had volunteered to support the blind children to climb the highest mountain.

What are some of the challenges people in the movie encounter?

The Tibet people don’t believe in blindness they say that it’s a sins committed in a previous life. The blind children had very dangerous challenge coming ahead so they were preparing to their first mountain climb. Also the video shows the challenge that Erik went through.

What are some examples of stereotyping, prejudice, bias and/or discrimination in the video?

The most essential was the bias the Tibetans had against blind people. Tashi, the street kid experienced this when trying to fit in with other children. He also was a victim of self-inflicted discrimination. He pretended to be Tibetan because he thought Chinese people couldn’t climb the mountain.

What challenges do people face as a result of personality rather than culture?

The Chinese couple shows us that sometimes people's personalities can be the reason for prejudice. They beat Tashi for not begging for enough money or having money stolen from him.

What benefits are there for the people in the movie as a result of their differing cultures?

The Tibetan girl gets a place in an English language school as a result of coming into contact with western culture. Tashi finds his father and would almost certainly not have done so without help.
